The ‘Big Sky’ For All to See

Big Sky | Season 1 Episode 1

**May Contain Spoilers**

I had no expectations for this show because I randomly selected it without knowing what it was even about, but the writers wasted no time and jumped into the story. This series is about private detectives Cassie Sewell and her partner Cody Hoyt searching for two missing teenagers. But, there’s a juicy twist. Cody’s estranged wife and an ex-cop join him and Cassie on their crazy search.

It gets cringy and crowded once Jenny (Cody’s wife) confronts Cassie and asks if she is sleeping with her husband. Based on her lack of response, it is clear she is the other woman. What a spicy way to start a show! We are then introduced to Ronald where his mother is patronizing him because she is not pleased with his career choice. I don’t completely blame her. He is a 39 year old trucker driver still living at home, but that is no reason to judge. Parents sometimes give us tough love as a form of motivation. The show is set in Montana and the scenery is so beautiful! Lots of trees and mountains, such a gorgeous view. At a truck stop a prostitute hops in Ronald’s truck and he tries to make a connection with her right before he proceeds to tase her in the neck. I was not expecting that, he must be a psycho or something.

Later, in a bar Cassie tries to explain her affair to Jenny but she is not buying it (neither would I). The two end up getting into a bar fight and to make matters worse apparently the women are friends or associates. Cassie definitely earned the stitches she got. How are you going to be the other woman when you are well acquainted with the whole family? Once someone confides in you about their relationship, that person is off limits.

Ronald in a heated rage nearly runs a teenage driver off the road. Danielle (the driver) gets so upset and is determined to cut him off. Bad move, this man is actually crazy. Although she succeeds, Ronald follows her, gets out the truck and kidnaps her and her sister. The girls were heading to see Danielle’s boyfriend but when they never showed up, the search for them begins. Cody, the cheating husband, happens to be the boyfriend’s father. He immediately heads out on the road to see if he can find them and connects with the local state trooper, Rick. Plotwist! Rick is actually in on the kidnapping. I won’t spill the beans on how we figure this out; you have to watch the show for that one. I really like how the characters are introduced and how the story begins to unfold. This was a great first episode to start the series.
